PEMNET system.

How It Works

next>

Recognizing the growing concern for patient radiation incurred during fluoroscopy, recording modes, and all interventional procedures, the PEMNET system provides the means for the radiologist and cardiologist to be instantly aware of the RATE of RADIATION and TOTAL RADIATION to the patient during the course of the exam. For the radiation physicist PEMNET maintains a PERMANENT PATIENT RECORD of the patients' entrance skin exposure during the exam that can be sent directly to the hospital information system or printed in hard copy form immediately following the exam.

In order to determine actual skin dose, the PEMNET system:

  • Accounts for table attenuation as a function of energy and table thickness (tube angle).
  • Senses when the x-ray beam is above the table and drops the table attenuation factor.
  • Continuously monitors the Source to Patient distance. When the tube is above the table, an ultrasonic sensor provides the measurement.
